In 1997, Australia responded quickly and prohibited the use of meat-and-bone meals in cattle feed. In 2001, any use of mammalian origin feed was also banned. Furthermore, Quality Assurance program from farm to table was established and the government has been working continuously to improve the quality of the beef and cattle. Due to these QA programs, there has been no detection of BSE (Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy) from Australia, and is worldly recognized as” safe, clean, and green”.
